Dinesh Karthik confirmed that Kieron Pollard has not fractured his finger and that Mumbai Indians will determine his fitness on Sunday before choosing the eleven for the match against Chennai Super Kings. “He’s practising and I hope he is feeling better. I don’t know what exactly it is, but I know it’s not a fracture,” said the Tamil Nadu wicket-keeper batsman who has been selected in the Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy to be played in England next month.
One of the leading run-getters for MI in the Pepsi-IPL VI, Karthik said he’s very happy with the news of his selection. “It’s something that I have been hoping for, for a long time. It’s very special to come back to the team. I always knew I had a chance. Those who selected me had faith in me and it’s important that I repay that faith.”
When asked about MI’s chances of advancing to the IPL play-offs, Karthik said that the team would like to win at least three more matches out of the remaining six and guarantee itself a place in the play offs. “We are capable of winning three out of six. It would be a great match against CSK, which is in form and playing really well. They have won seven games in a row.”
