Wakaskar hits double century

Opener S.P. Wakaskar scored a brilliant 211 for Baroda ‘A’ against Bengal ‘A’ on the second day of the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy (under-25) elite group ‘C’ match at Vadodara on Saturday. Baroda declared the innings at 546 for eight. Bengal was 51 for no loss when stumps were drawn for the day.

At Bangalore, Karun Nair’s unbeaten 118 and the support-cast of Mayank Agarwal (91) and Shreyas Gopal (59 n.o.) helped Karnataka post 342 for four in reply to Himachal Pradesh’s 296. At Hyderabad, centuries by L. Naveen Kumar (145, 306 balls, 12 x 4) and K. Sumanth (169 batting, 336 balls, 22 x 4, 1 x 6) helped Hyderabad score 351 for two in reply to Haryana’s 208 on the second day.

At Vasco da Gama, S.A. Ramani’s rearguard century (109) enabled Goa reach a respectable 225 in the first innings against Kerala.

At Dhanbad: Jharkhand 355 in 140 overs (A. Verma 168, B. Kumar 64, K. Kumar 40, Atul Sharma four for 58, Vikrant Rajput three for 48) vs Chhattisgarh 79 for no loss in 33 overs (Chhabi Jaikshatri 45 n.o.)

At Bangalore: Himachal Pradesh 296 in 92.3 overs (N.R. Gangta 129, A.K. Kaushik 39, J.P. Singh 34, Aditya Sagar three for 30, Sharath three for 71) vs Karnataka 342 for four in 85 overs (Karun Nair 118 n.o., Mayank Agarwal 91, Shreyas Gopal 59 n.o., P.U. Deshpande 38).
