Vijay Manjrekar XI records win

Vijay Manjrekar XI recorded a 77-run win over Dattu Phadkar XI in the Sportstar Trophy MCA U-19 selection trial tournament third round tie at Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali ground.

Twenty wickets fell for the second day, resulting in a three-day match ending a day earlier.

Manjrekar XI conceded a nine-run first innings lead, but scored 211 in the second innings and set Phadkar XI a target of 203. Left-arm spinner Vaibhav Mali (four for 45) and off-spinner Ravi Yadav (four for 18) did the damage, bowling out Phadkar XI for 125 to seal victory on the second day.

Khandu Rangnekar XI appears to be in danger of being forced to follow-on against Vijay Merchant XI in another third round encounter at P.J. Hindu Gymkhana.

Rangnekar XI is 219 for nine, replying to a huge Merchant XI total of 445. Abul Kalam excelled with bat and ball.
