Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee for breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during his side’s 16-run defeat against Sri Lanka in the first semifinal of the World Twenty20 here.

Umar was found to have breached Article 2.2.11 of the code, a level 2 offence, which relates to “conduct contrary to the spirit of the game”.

The incident took place in the 17th over of Pakistan’s innings when Umar, who was the non-striker, ignored both on-field umpires’ request and went ahead to change his batting gloves.
