Tough ask for India ‘A’

India ‘A’ was on Monday set a stiff target of needing to score 307 to win the second and final unofficial ‘Test’ after South Africa ‘A’ declared its second innings at 166 for five on the third and penultimate day here.

At stumps, India ‘A’ was three for one from the four overs it faced in the second innings, needing 304 more runs to win the ‘Test’, with nine wickets in hand.

Captain Cheteshwar Pujara was batting on two and nightwatchman Shahbaz Nadeem on zero.

South Africa ‘A’ 341 in 121 overs and 166 for five decl. in 63 overs (D. Elgar 62, J. Ontong 35, S. Nadeem three for 56) vs. India ‘A’ 201 (C. Pujara 54, A. Rahane 36, A. Rayudu 29, P. Rasool 32 not out, B Hendricks five for 36, S. Harmer four for 74) and three for one in four overs.
