Schools from Chennai and seven more districts in Tamil Nadu have been added to the Coca Cola under-16 inter-State Challenge Cricket Cup that will be played over nine months, starting in the last week of July.
The tournament will thus be expanded to 780 schools across 67 districts in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (13 districts), Punjab (six major and 14 minor districts), Baroda, Tamil Nadu (Chennai and seven districts), West Bengal (Kolkata & 18 districts), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow and Kanpur) and Madhya Pradesh (Indore, Gwalior, Saagar and Rewa).
At a press conference here on Friday, the first batch of the Coca Cola Stars programme — Sarfaraz Khan (Mumbai), Akshay Brambhatt (Baroda) and Nitin Tanwar (Delhi) — said they enjoyed playing cricket during their 25-day tour of the UK.
“The major difference was movement on the wicket and it took some time to adjust,” said Sarfaraz Khan.
