Tim Bresnan out of final Ashes Test

August 16, 2013 03:58 pm | Updated 03:58 pm IST - LONDON

England paceman Tim Bresnan will miss the final Ashes Test against Australia with a stress fracture in his lower back opening up the possibility of Chris Tremlett returning to the team after a 19-month absence.

The England and Wales Cricket Board said Bresnan’s injury will rule him out for “the remainder of the international season.”

Graham Onions is already out with a broken finger. Tremlett is likely to be Bresnan’s replacement for the fifth Test starting on August 21 at The Oval.
