In-form opening batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan has hurt his nose in a freak accident.
The injury occurred when the Sri Lankan was playing a game of football with his team-mates after the conclusion of the first Test at Motera.
Team manager Brendon Kuruppu said, “after an x-ray was taken, the injury was treated by a surgeon before we left for Kanpur. Dilshan is not in danger.”
He was optimistic about the aggressive batsman figuring in the second Test beginning at Kanpur on November 24.
“Dilshan is not in any great discomfort and will resume practice with the rest of the team on Sunday,” Mr. Kuruppu said.
Dilshan scored a punishing 112 in the first Test at Motera after recovering quickly from an ankle sprain. He is a key player as the Sri Lankans seek to win their first Test on Indian soil.
