Buchi Babu: Three centuries and two five-fors on day one

Both batsmen and bowlers had a fairly productive outing as three centuries and two five-wicket hauls were recorded on day one of the third round of matches in the Kalpathi-AGS Buchi Babu all-India tournament, here on Thursday.

Riding on Shreyas Iyer’s ton (133, 165b, 12x4, 4x6), Mumbai posted 379 in its first innings after electing to bat against TNCA XI.

Shreyas added 114 runs for the fourth wicket along with Armaan Jaffer (61). In reply, TNCA XI went to stumps on 11 for one.

Racy innings

Elsewhere, skipper Parthiv Patel’s racy innings (100, 86b, 14x4, 2x6) pivoted Gujarat to 305 against Hyderabad even as left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha claimed five wickets. Hyderabad was on 33 for one at close of play.

At IIT-Chemplast, Abhinav Mukund (132, 222b, 20x4) helped TNCA President’s XI finish with 342 after it was inserted by Andhra, which, in response, ended the day on 48 for two.
