Sachin Tendulkar is gearing to play the Champions League Twenty20 tournament that starts with a match between IPL-6 winner Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur on September 21.
The CLT20 will be his first major tournament after he was forced to retire with an injury to his left hand (top) in the IPL league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 13 at the Wankhede Stadium.
He had made 38 off 31 balls with three 4s and one six. In spite of the best medical treatment he played no part in Mumbai Indians’ five odd league and play-off matches together; his team though went on to win the IPL final at Kolkata.
The master batsman, who has retired from ODI cricket, but has kept his motivation at a high level to play Test cricket repaired his left hand with a surgery (palm) in London.
“I got the operation done in July. I have been practising at the Bandra-Kurla Complex for the last ten days. I am feeling comfortable and looking forward to play in the Champions League,” said Tendulkar while talking to The Hindu.
The Champions League and probably a Duleep Trophy match and a couple of Ranji matches are the options available for Tendulkar to get useful practise and be ready for the Test series in South Africa.
