Tendulkar fever!

April 25, 2012 01:21 am | Updated 01:21 am IST - MOHALI:

The ‘City Beautiful' was destined to experience the Sachin fever on Tuesday. And it was, indeed, a great experience!

From the morning, the Mumbai Indians team hotel was swarmed by fans and mediapersons. Everyone wanted to have a glimpse of Sachin Tendulkar on his 39th birthday.

The hotel (JW Marriott) authorities had prepared a special cake, which he cut in the presence of his Mumbai Indian team members in the evening.

The fans and media had to deal with disappointment as Tendulkar preferred to avoid too many distractions and stay as focused as possible a day before Mumbai Indian's crucial game against Kings XI Punjab.

As expected, Tendulkar's birthday was the dominant topic at the pre-match press conferences. “I get a chill down my spine (hearing that today is his birthday). I remember the desert storm of 1998 in Sharjah… It is good the match is tomorrow and not today,” said Kings XI coach-cum-captain Adam Gilchrist.

April 24 will always remain special for the lovers and practitioners of the game.
