Surprising as it may sound, senior Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s defence has been breached three times in a row in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand.
After being bowled in the first innings of the first Test in Hyderabad and the first innings here, Tim Southee made it three in a row when he disturbed Tendulkar’s middle stump on the fourth day of the ongoing second Test.
Revered worldwide for his record-breaking feats and his sound technique and temperament, the veteran batsman’s campaign in the two-match series got off to a poor start after Trent Boult cleaned him up for just 19, uprooting the middle stump in the first Test, and it continued in the second match here.
Doug Bracewell went through Tendulkar’s defence after he left a gap between his bat and pads in the first innings of the ongoing match.
Tim Southee then piled on Tendulkar’s agony as the Kiwi pacer knocked the middle stump after clipping his pad with a delivery that came back into the right-hander. That Tendulkar was playing across, did not help the batsman’s cause.
The batsman seemed quite frustrated with himself as he raised his bat in anger at the stumps.
Tendulkar, who has scored 15,489 in 189 Tests for an average of 55.31 prior to this match, has now being bowled 51 times in Test cricket. Rahul Dravid (55) and Allan Border (53) top the charts.

Sunny Talked about reflexes of sachin. Being comentrator he should only speak about what is going on field and facts. Making other comments is not good and not expected from great player like sunny.
Moreover Sunny should remember that in 1976 when he was 27 Yrs.3 times he was bowled and after 10 years in 1986 he was bowled 3 times again.
Same thing happen after 10 years with sachin. He must have said history repeats, that would have been a sporty punch.
what's gonna happen next?
whether sachin should retire now is going to be the prime topic for all telivision channels to discuss about. All the great cricket playes and grieg chappel are going to make the decision for tendulkar to retire. But he would not reply anything about this and next series he will play exceptionally well and all the great players are goin to say that youngsters should learn from tendulkar and news paper & telvision prime topics will be "why age doesn't matter from tendulkar". It is not good to talk about tendulkar retirement cos he wil play well in the next series itself and make us keep quiet
It is right time for Tendulkar to bid adieu to professional cricket.
He is old and he lacks the touch and concentration he had in his prime.
non performing asset not making way for new performing asset.
Sachin have had wonderful career ,i think he is in mood to complete it with high note .Probably he should learn some lessons from dravid and vss .These people had thier great times and it is now time for young players to come. it would be nice if sachin takes necessary step at this point in time .
He has had a good career in cricket. He is more than well established. He should control his greed make way for yougsters. One thing is sure; there is no other gentleman like Rahul Dravid followed by VVS.
Every person has a bad time during his play. But the public should not criticize for that.I'm sure that Sachin will learn from his mistake and will come up as a great batsman as he is.
No need to bother........Bcoz.....he is a legend........all the people, who are criticising him are nothing before him.........he knows how to bat better than any one in the world.......COMMON SUCHIN......please entertain us as u can............
It is a blessing in disguise. Sachin is a human being and at times he
also needs some jolt to galvanize him into fiery action. My sympathies
to the bowlers of next series.
No wonder why the comments in this column remains so positive, The Hindu readers always seems solution oriented and I regret for missing this page for so long. Unlike other online news columns that's always remain in attacking and criticizing mode, The Hindu remains the best. I am a great admirer of this great icon. For me, every match he plays is simply the gift. But I could feel that Sachin himself is under pressure and that's clearly evident in reactions post dismissals. Well I would request Sachin to play little bit of Ranji games before the next series which will help him fine tune his skills. I believe there is nothing wrong in doing it.
A similar situation in Australia made Rahul Dravid to understand his state and make a right call. Hope better sense prevails with Sachin as well.
This is true that Sachin is no longer that much sharp as he was used to be in his prime time and as analysis suggests after growing old many great batsmen got bowled often (Allen border, Rahul Dravid, Javed Miyadad etc.). Now question is do we need Sachin in Team India or he should also quit the cricket?? As of my knowledge of cricket and prior experience with team India, we do not have any good overseas player except Sachin (Dravid and Laxman already retired) and young guns are still to prove their grit in overseas conditions, so I think we should stick with Sachin and let him sort out his problem by his own talent.
As much as i love Tendulkar, I think its about time he retires and gets
in as a batting coach or something of that sort. That would be of great
help for SouthAfrica 2013 series more than a player.
When his juniors (not by age) viz., kumble, ganguly, dravid and laxman have retired from all forms of cricket to give way for the youngsters, why he still wants to play when there is no useful contribution from him for the victory. Even the selectors do not have the guts to drop him from the team like what they did towards the above cricketers. Let us take his place for granted and play till 2015 world cup.
Something similar happened to Dravid during India's tour down-under.
He was bowled many times through his solid defense and the critics
wrote "Is the time up for the wall?"
Interesting to see what might be their reaction now since Sachin is in
similar situation..
There's no need to worry much about that. I hope he's under some pressure. I believe he'll get his form and entertain us very soon. Sometimes these type of things happen, but I pray the almighty to give Sachin the ability to forget this series and comeback to form soon. Still he's the ability to play for long time. I request everybody to not to criticize or blame Sachin please.
WHATEVER HE SCORES I ENJOY HIS BATTING. ALL THE BEST SACHIN..
EVEN IF EVERYTHING IS LOST, FUTURE STILL REMAINS.
The last dismissal wasn't a particularly good ball. Tendulkar should have played with a straight bat, instead of trying to work the ball on to the on side.
It's the time to sachin to keep his mood in tranquility without being frustrated, some times Gods also has to dream devil nights...We hope that sachin will get his track soon and come up like a jet....
even the best cricketer will grow old. no one will remain the same for ever.it is best to admire what he achieved so far.
