Tendulkar, a fine ambassador: Alam

One of Pakistan’s most celebrated cricketers, Intikhab Alam says Sachin Tendulkar is one of the finest ambassadors for Indian sport.

Alam, who was Pakistan’s first ODI captain before coaching the National team, was among the former players feted by the Cricket Association of Bengal, which celebrated 25 years of Indo-Pak One-Dayers at Eden Gardens.

“The way Sachin has carried himself all through his career makes him one of the finest ambassadors of Indian sport,” Alam said.

“Sachin has stayed fit, and that was why he could be at his best for such a long period. A cricketer knows best when to retire and he has done that at the right time,” Alam said.

Alam signed off saying: “I wish India-Pakistan relations are revived fully and India comes to play a full series in Pakistan.”
