The New Zealand ‘A’ team appears to be confident of facing the spin attack of India ‘A’ in the four-day match starting at the ACA-VDCA stadium here on Monday.
The first day of the first unofficial Test at the Port stadium was lost to rain, but captain Tom Latham, coach Grant Bradburn and manager Lance Hamilton on Sunday indicated that the visitors gained enough experience to play well the in second match — having scored 300 plus on the second day of the opener.
Comfortable against spin
“We were comfortable against spin and expect more quality spin bowling now,” said Latham. The batsmen were also good at using their feet on a flat wicket against spin, he said.
Bradburn said his spinners were also good as they took wickets — Todd Astle and Ish Sodhi claimed five of the seven wickets that fell.
Indian batsman Vijay Zol, who hit a century in his first class debut match at the Port stadium said the team is in good shape and looking forward to the match.
