HYDERABAD: The Committee of Administrators (CoA) of the BCCI has written a letter to the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to appear before it on May 30.

The letter also mentioned that HCA can file a written submission before May 23 about any objections it has in this regard and give an explanation as to why the demand of TCA for associate membership should not be considered.

“The fight is not against HCA but for associate membership,” Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, TCA Governing Council vice-chairperson and MP, said here on Monday.

“We have only applied for associate membership and not for full-membership. So, there is nothing to fear for the HCA top brass,” Vishweshwar added.

“The HCA has written to the BCCI quoting Justice Lodha guidelines that each State should have only one full member and hence TCA’s claim cannot be considered. We have never questioned that. We are only asking for associate membership.”

Guruva Reddy, secretary, TCA, said: “It is unfortunate that the HCA top brass is trying to woo the TCA members into its fold in the districts through dubious means. Fighting the HCA is not on our agenda. We want a significant role in ensuring justice to genuine talent in rural areas after it was neglected for seven decades,” he said.

TCA president Y. Laxminarayana said: “It’s time HCA understands the sincerity and commitment of TCA to ensure a level-playing platform for the genuine talent in terms of representation in various age-groups of the BCCI tournaments. The fact that TCS comprises leaders cutting across political affiliations is simple proof that we are committed for the betterment of genuine players across Telangana.”

He added that the HCA should realise that by opposing associate membership to TCA, it is only playing with the sentiments of Telangana’s youth.
