Star India Private Limited was awarded the Indian cricket side’s ‘Team Sponsorship’ rights for the period January 1, 2014 to March 31, 2017 during a Board Marketing Panel meeting at the Hotel Park Sheraton here on Monday.

This includes the right to be called the “Official Team Sponsor”, and to display a commercial logo on the clothing of the senior men’s, the under-19 boys, the men’s ‘A’ and the women’s teams.

It is understood that Star bid Rs. 1.92 crore per match for bilateral series and Rs. 61 lakh per game for the ICC events involving the Indian senior men’s team. Star India is already the holder of broadcast, internet and mobile rights for international and domestic matches in India between July 2012 and March 2018. Star comes in for Sahara India, which was the other bidder. However, Sahara was found ineligible for the same since it was locked in a dispute with the BCCI regarding the Pune Warriors IPL franchise.
