Tanmay Srivastava came up with an unbeaten 177 (230b, 21x4, 3x6) as Uttar Pradesh CA defeated Tripura by eight wickets on the second day of the final round of league games in the Kalpathi-Buchi Babu all-India tournament here on Thursday. In the last eight clashes from August 24 to 25, Karnataka takes on Uttar Pradesh, Andhra meets TNCA XI, Haryana faces off with Kerala, and Hyderabad clashes with TNCA President’s XI.
The left-handed Tanmay put on 125 for the first wicket with Prasant Gupta (56, 93b, 6x4, 1x6) and a unbroken 174 runs for the third with Umang Sharma (73 not out, 87b, 8x4, 1x6) as Uttar Pradesh breezed to the target of 323. Despite a century by K.S. Bharat (100, 171b, 9x4), Karnataka defeated Andhra by 196 runs. Amit Verma, bowling leg-spin, scalped four.
Weighty knocks from B. Indrajith (96 not out, 137b, 8x4, 5x6) and M. Shahrukh Khan (63 not out, 97b, 4x4, 1x6) — the duo added 138 runs in 22.4 overs in an unbeaten fourth wicket stand — gave TNCA President’s XI a seven-wicket win over Baroda.
Lifted by opener Abhimanyu Khoda’s 94 (158b, 10x4, 1x6) and Avi Barot’s 60 (114b, 3x4, 2x6), Haryana managed a three-wicket win over TNCA Districts. For Districts, off-spinner P. Sakthi picked up four wickets.
