The annual general body meeting of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) will be held at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium complex here on Sunday.

The ruling group, headed by president N. Srinivasan, faces virtually no opposition. R.I. Palani replacing Dr. G. Natarajan as the Joint Secretary will be the lone change among the office bearers. Dr. Natarajan had opted out due to health reasons.

In what should be a mere formality, Mr. Srinivasan’s name will be proposed by a leading member from his group and then seconded to ensure another term for him at the office.

The faction headed by A.C. Muthiah can get someone to propose and second a candidate for a contest to happen for the president’s post.

However, the group headed by Srinivasan has overwhelming numbers in its favour.

Two outstation players

Among the important subjects for discussion in the agenda would be on the outstation cricketers in the TNCA first division league.

There could be, if those pushing for it can get the numbers, the return to the system of two outstation players in every team. The presence of quality outstation cricketers in the league will, arguably, enhance its quality.

Strong opposition

However, the proposal is likely to encounter strong opposition.

The presence of outstation players would also mean two local cricketers less in an eleven. This would also result in fewer slots for the young aspirants from the State.
