The Supreme Court on Friday cleared the decks for N. Srinivasan to take over as BCCI president later this month.

BCCI counsel told the court that his elevation would be subject to the outcome of a petition by the former BCCI president, A.C. Muthiah, challenging his election.

The petition said Mr. Srinivasan's position was untenable as he was also a member of the governing council of the IPL.
