Out-of-form batsman Thilan Samaraweera, the injured Ajantha Mendis and the just-capped leg spinner Sekkuge Prasanna are among those left out of the Sri Lankan test squad that takes on Pakistan from mid-October in the UAE.

Dinesh Chandimal, who, according to the team coach Rumesh Ratnayake, has a technical problem with his batting, has been recalled. Dhammika Prasad, Nuwan Pradeep and Kaushal Silva have been included.
