South Africa opts to bat against India

January 18, 2011 06:14 pm | Updated 06:14 pm IST - CAPE TOWN

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat in the third one-day international against India.

India selected Yusuf Pathan to replace Sachin Tendulkar, who has returned home with a right hamstring strain.

Pathan missed the first two games of the five-match series, which is level at 1-1 following India’s one-run victory in Johannesburg on Saturday. Rohit Sharma will open the batting alongside Murali Vijay in Tendulkar’s absence.

South Africa has given a debut to batsman Faf du Plessis, who replaces David Miller.
