Indian batsman Rohit Sharma, who was adjudged player of the series in the recently-concluded one-dayers against the West Indies, today broke into the ICC ODI Rankings’ top-50 at the 49th spot after jumping 32 places.
Sharma, who amassed 257 runs in the five ODIs to help India notch up a 3-2 victory over the West Indies, is among the rising and talented cricketers who have improved their positions following the series.
Among other Indian batsmen, Virat Kohli moved to seventh place, while Parthiv Patel made a massive jump of 75 places to the 103rd spot.
Batsmen losing ground include Indian stand-in captain Suresh Raina (36th) and all-rounder Yusuf Pathan (55th).
Among the bowlers, leg-spinner Amit Mishra has been rewarded for his 11 wickets in the series with a jump of 108 places which has put him in 65th position in the ranking.
India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has moved up six places to 11th position after taking four wickets in the series while fast bowlers Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel have improved their positions by four places each to claim 25th and 27th spots, respectively.
Among the West Indies batsmen, former West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan, who was the second most successful batsman in the series with 216 runs, has moved up six places to claim 32nd position.
Lendl Simmons who had a reasonably successful stint at the opening slot jumped 13th places to 53rd spot, Kieron Pollard zoomed to 65th.
Darren Bravo, who hit a career-best 99-ball 86 in the last ODI, surged to 67th, while Marlon Samuels is up by 16 places to 106. But the West Indies captain Darren Sammy has slipped to 107th.
In the ICC Rankings for ODI bowlers, Andre Russell, who took eight wickets in the series, has rocketed 85 positions to 127th spot.
Meanwhile in the ICC ODI Championship table, India has retained its second position but its lead over third-placed Sri Lanka has been trimmed to just one ratings point after it conceded two ratings points for a 3-2 series win.
In contrast, the West Indies has gained five ratings points, which has put it on 77 - 10 points clear of ninth-placed Bangladesh.
