Australia team medical staff will examine Shane Watson for concussion on Wednesday, a day after he was hit in the head by a short-pitched delivery in training for the Boxing Day test against India.

Watson will have to pass a test before he’s allowed to practice.

The all-rounder was shaken by a James Pattinson bouncer which hit him on the helmet during a net session on Tuesday, and national selector Mark Waugh said Watson felt off-color after he returned to the team hotel.

Pattinson looked upset after the incident and left training.
