Tamil Nadu recorded its second win in as many matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy South Zone Twenty20 tournament, beating a fighting Goa by 11 runs at the ACA-VDCA stadium here on Saturday. The match was reduced to 17-overs-a-side due to rain.
Karnataka beat Andhra in the morning by eight wickets. Each side played five overs, thanks to rain.
The other match, between Hyderabad and Kerala, at Zinc stadium was washed out.
Goa, which upset Karnataka on the first day, made a gallant effort through Sagun Kamat (35, 27b, 5x4, 1x6) and captain Swapnil Asnodkar (29, 3x4, 1x6) but L. Balaji and R. Ashwin contained the Goans.
Earlier, K.B. Arun Karthik came up with another fine knock (44, 35b, 4x4, 1x6) and Anirudha made a rapid 42 (25b, 3x4, 3x6) in Tamil Nadu’s total of 144 for six.
