Sargunam scores unbeaten century

X. Thalaivan Sargunam was unbeaten on 114 (200b, 14x4, 1x6) as Globe Trotters reached a healthy 306 for two against Jolly Rovers on the first day of the fifth and final round of the opening phase in the TNCA first division league here on Saturday.

Earlier, openers S. Anirudha (56, 59b, 5x4, 4x6) and K. Mukund (75, 195b, 14x4) put on 94 runs to lay a platform. Then, Sargunam added an undefeated 98 for the third wicket with K. Shri Vasudeva Das (48 batting, 72b, 7x4).

Century stand

With half-centuries from B. Aparajith (57, 130b, 8x4, 1x5) and R. Rohith (55, 126b, 9x4), Vijay CC was 217 for five at stumps against India Pistons. The fourth wicket duo of Aparajith and Rohith raised 113.

Alwarpet paceman J. Kaushik’s four for 53 played its part in AG’s Office being bowled out for 154. Alwarpet was 41 for one in reply.

Valuable efforts from M. Kamalesh (91, 190b, 11x4) and J. Koushik (86 batting, 152b, 11x4) took UFCC (T. Nagar) to 250 for six against IOB. Off-spinner Joel Joseph scalped four.

Arun Balaji (95 batting, 154b, 16x4) enabled Southern Railway Institute get to 240 for seven against Grand Slam.

Despite some resistance from Maan K. Bafna (35) and Shravan Krishnan (32), Aruna slumped to 158 for seven against Young Stars.
