Host Salem scored a comfortable five-wicket win over Thiruvallur and entered the final of the TNCA under-19 inter-district cricket tournament at the Periyar University grounds on Wednesday.

After gaining a comfortable first innings lead, the host shot out its opponent for 206 for the second time and saw through the victory target of 93 with five wickets to spare.

Prasath scalps seven

At Dindigul, left-arm spinner S. Mohan Prasath’s seven-wicket haul helped Coimbatore secure a first innings lead of 213 against the host.

At Salem: Thiruvallur 113 & 206 in 37.2 overs (T. Prapanch Maharajan 48, R. Ram Arvindh 31, D. Prashanth Prabhu 40, S. Jasvanth three for 66) lost to Salem 226 in 74.3 overs (S. Sharun Kumar 89 n.o., S.J. Krithick 34, T. Prapanch Maharajan three for 51, V. Aakash three for 37) & 94 for five in 30.5 overs (S. Guru Raghavendran 40, Arunachalam four for 27) .
