Having bid an emotional adieu to the game in November 2013 at Wankhede, Tendulkar continues to rule the hearts of millions of his fans. Tendulkar, who is chief mentor of IPL side Mumbai Indians, is in Mumbai ahead of the team’s game against SunRisers Hyderabad.

The batting maestro’s former teammate and spin legend Anil Kumble, who is still with Tendulkar as MI mentor, wished the World Cup-winner on twitter.

“Many happy returns of the day champ @sachin_rt God bless!,” Kumble tweeted.

MI skipper Rohit Sharma also wished the Master Blaster.

“Happy birthday @sachin_rt have a great year ahead paaji,” he tweeted.

Current national Test skipper and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli also took to social media to wish the champion player.

“Happy bday to @sachin_rt the greatest idol of our sport. Best wishes for a great life ahead paji :),” Kohli wrote on twitter.

Another young teammate of Tendulkar, Ishant Sharma also wished his cricket idol.

“Happy Birthday @sachin_rt paaji; an idol, a mentor and a legend in the truest sense. God Bless,” the SunRisers Hyderabad pacer tweeted.

Former player Mohammad Kaif, who also played a lot of cricket with the legend, tweeted, “Many Many Happy Returns of the Day @sachin_rt Bhai! Have a great one.”

Out-of-favour Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan also did not forget the great man’s birthday.

“Many happy returns of the day paaji @sachin_rt. Thank u for inspiring so many ppl around the world #legend,” tweeted the left-arm pacer.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also wished the Bharat Ratna awardee on his special day.

“A very Happy Birthday to Bharat Ratna @sachin_rt #HappyBirthdaySachin.”
