Rayudu refutes Gavaskar’s assertion

March 05, 2014 02:21 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:29 pm IST - MIRPUR:

Ambati Rayudu refuted Sunil Gavaskar’s assertion that India’s work ethic had suffered and that its players were not taking practice sessions seriously.

“We have been working as hard as anybody, if not more. Moreover, we had three games in five days, and it’s not only us, no team has practised when they had back-to-back games,” Rayudu told reporters on Tuesday.

“We have played a game here just two days after travelling from New Zealand.

“Some people are definitely going through some mental fatigue as well, but I’m sure the team management is doing a fantastic job.”

The 28-year-old Rayudu was also appreciative of Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

“He’s been learning a lot from (M.S.) Dhoni bhai as you can see in his captaincy. He’s been very proactive and did a fantastic job against Pakistan.”
