New Delhi, 21/05/2011. Delhi Daredevils Morne Morkel with David Warner and Matthew Wade during rain showers at the Ferozshah Kotla ground due to which the IPL T20 match between Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors was stopped in New Delhi on 21, May, 2011

They came in droves, anticipating some action, but left scampering for cover. Some die-hard fans stayed on in hope, braving the rain that ultimately ruined the last match of the Indian Premier League at this venue.

Rain gods had the last laugh and left Delhi Daredevils grieving at a poor season. The result, a washout, left Delhi Daredevils at the bottom of the table with Pune Warriors taking the ninth place. The ground staff worked tirelessly but then rain too remained on target, quite incessantly.

Finally, the match was called off with Delhi Daredevils, opting to bat, 56 for three in 10.1 overs with Sourav Ganguly's last possible act with the bat at the Kotla remaining a non-starter.

Both teams finished at eight points but Pune Warriors pushed Daredevils to the last spot by virtue of better net run rate.
