Rahul pleased with return to form

Rahul Sharma has shrugged aside a past that notoriously included a rave party which went sour during the Indian Premier League in 2012.

After bagging five wickets to help India ‘A’ ambush West Indies ‘A’ in a T20 game on Saturday, he attributed his success to self-belief.

“I am pleased to return with good performances. After the IPL in 2012, it was a tough phase for me. But I believed I could come out of it,” Rahul said and also thanked former India leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani and spin legend Anil Kumble for their tips.

Meanwhile, the West Indies ‘A’ skipper Kieran Powell admitted that pursuing India’s steep total was a big task. “Chasing 215 was always going to be tough and we kept losing wickets at quick intervals.

“Catching has been a problem for us. We have become a bit complacent and we will have to brush up our skills ahead of the four-day games,” Powell said. — Special Correspondent
