Rahil Shah picked up five wickets as Vijay CC defeated IOB by an innings and 57 runs on the final day of the fifth round Group-A match in the TNCA first division league at the Guru Nanak ground. Shah finished with a match haul of 10 for 61.
At SSN, Young Stars fell 14 runs short of taking the first innings lead against Grand Slam despite V. Yo Mahesh’s unbeaten 74 (184b, 6x4, 1x6).
R. Sai Kishore’s six for 64 helped Alwarpet bowl Triplicane out for 172 and gain a 392-run first innings lead at VB Nest.
R. Sathish, playing his first match this season, hit an unbeaten 155 (190b, 22x4, 3x6) as Jolly Rovers made 430 for seven in its first innings in the Group-B match against Globe Trotters at IIT-Chemplast.
Sathish was involved in a 172-run fifth wicket partnership with Ankit Bawne, who scored his third successive century of the season (154, 302b, 17x4, 1x6).
With the first innings unfinished, the teams shared three points each.
Left-arm spinner Maan K. Bafna’s picked up five wickets for 84 as AG’s Office folded up for 287, handing India Pistons a 100-run first innings lead at CPT-IP. S. Aswin Kumar top-scored with an unbeaten 116 (125b, 13x4, 2x6) for AGORC.
UFCC (T. Nagar) and CromBest also shared three points each as the first innings in this match also was not completed.
U. Vishal (55, 131b, 6x4, 2x6) and Wilkins Victor (55, 77b, 8x4) helped CromBest reach 249 for seven at the Murugappa ground.
Mihir Hirwani (four for 58) was the pick of the bowlers for UFCC.
Vijay CC, Young Stars, and Alwarpet from Group-A, and India Pistons, Globe Trotters, and Jolly Rovers from Group-B’, have qualified for the elite group.
