A clinical India defeated Sri Lanka comprehensively by six wickets to post its second win the Nidahas Trophy T20 tri-series, here on Monday.
Chasing a target of 152 in 19 overs, India overcame early jitters riding on Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 42 and Dinesh Karthik’s 39 not out to win with nine balls to spare.
By virtue of the win, India avenged its five-wicket loss in the tournament opener. But it was not easy as India witnessed a horrendous start to the chase, losing openers Rohit Sharma (11) and in-form Shikhar Dhawan (8) early.
Suresh Raina (27) and K.L. Rahul (18) also departed early before Pandey and Karthik ensured there were no more hiccups as they stitched unbeaten 68 runs for the fifth wicket.
