One of the best knocks I had ever seen: Kohli

Virat Kohli conveyed a congratulatory message on behalf of the Indian team to the victorious India under-19 team which won the World Cup defeating Australia on Sunday.

“This is a great day for Indian cricket. It is a very special performance given the fact that it has come in tough conditions and beating Australia in Australia and that too for the first time in a World Cup final is something special,” Kohli said.

“It was a wonderful batting effort in the final by the captain Unmukt (Chand). One of the best knocks I had ever seen. Even Smit Patel was very good. We were all watching in the dressing room, glued to the TV sets when rain forced a delayed start to the day’s play in this Test in the morning,” Kohli said.

“I wish this winning team cherishes and enjoys every moment. I know what a World Cup under-19 victory means having gone through similar moments earlier as the victorious captain myself,” Kohli said.

For R. Ashwin too it was a great performance. He pointed out that he got up early at 5.00 a.m. this morning to watch the final. “Unmukt’s knock (111 not out) was out of the world. This victory means much more for India as it came in Australia where we lost the Test series badly,” he said.
