Hutt Hawks, a cricket club based in Lower Hut, Wellington, New Zealand is in the city to take on the aspirants from City Drome in a series of matches from July 23 to 27.
The visit is part of an exchange programme between the two sides.
The team from New Zealand, comprising both under-19 and under-16 cricketers, has players who have represented the Wellington State in competitions.
Promising youngsters
The outfit has several promising youngsters such as Sushant Balajee, Troy Johnson, Rachin Ravindra, Chander Ravi and Matthew Boswell. Ravi Krishnamurthy, coach-player of the team, said here on Monday that the idea behind the tour was to make the young Kiwi cricketers better all-round players.
“They should be exposed to various types of wickets and conditions.
“Before coming here, we played in Bangalore and Mysore, and the boys, when they return to India wearing the New Zealand colours, would be better equipped to cope with the challenges.”
Ravi added Hutt Hawks was planning tours of this nature to Australia and England too.
S.D. Sridharan, a Director at Cricket Drome, said the matches would benefit the youngsters at the academy as well.
The Drome has several upcoming players like Niklesh and Aatheek.
