Yuvraj Singh insists that he is not playing here to prove anyone wrong.
After scoring 208 for North Zone against Central on the second day of the Duleep Trophy semifinal here on Monday, the southpaw said:
“I am definitely pleased with the way I batted. The biggest challenge for me was to play a long innings and I am glad that I achieved that.
“It is great to score a double century when playing my first four-day match (after the cancer treatment). And, it is all the more special when it results in a double century score,” said Yuvraj whose innings was watched by two National selectors Vikram Rathour and Rajinder Singh Hans.
“Definitely, I was tired at the end of the first day’s play (he was unbeaten 133 overnight). But, I am really happy that I could withstand the rigors of a four-day game. I was curious to know how my body would respond to this format,” Yuvraj said.
“Batting in this format is obviously very different from T20 or even one-dayers. In fact, during the lunch break yesterday I was joking with my teammates that by this time we could have completed a T20 game,” he said.
“Right now, I am not thinking too far ahead. I have to keep working to realise more dreams. I wish to take it game by game and be fit enough to play all formats,” Yuvraj said.
