New Zealand ‘A’ tour begins today

New Zealand ‘A’ team commences its India tour with a three-day match against India ‘A’ here on Wednesday. Both teams had rigorous nets on Tuesday morning before heavy showers set in late in the afternoon.

The Indian team comprises several youngsters compared to the New Zealand team, which includes four Test players — Doug Bracewell, Mark Gillespie, Colin Munro and Todd Astle. Unmukt Chand and Manpreet Juneja, members of the victorious India under-23 team in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup in Singapore, have joined the team here.

The teams (from): India ‘A’: Abhishek Nayar (capt.), Unmukt Chand, Jiwanjot Singh, Vijay Zol, V.A. Jagadeesh, C.M. Gautam, Imtiaz Ahmed, Aniket Choudhary, Shrikant Wagh, Jalaj Saxena, Rakesh Dhruv, Manpreet Juneja, Dhawal Kulkarni and Sarabjeet Ladda.

New Zealand ‘A’: Tom Latham (capt.), Corey Anderson, Carl Cachopa, Colin Munro, Neil Broom, Derek de Boorder, James Neesham, Mark Gillespie, Luke Ronchi, Matthew Henry, Doug Bracewell, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Anton Devcich, Todd Astle and Ish Sodhi.
