Match drawn

June 08, 2011 04:01 am | Updated 04:01 am IST - LONDON:

England and Sri Lanka drew the second Test at Lord's here on Tuesday, a result that left England 1-0 up in the three-match series.

Sri Lanka was set an imposing target of 343 to win in 58 overs on Tuesday's final day.

But the more pressing problem for the tourists was to avoid losing 10 wickets as happened in their innings and 14-run first Test defeat in Cardiff.

This they did, closing on 127 for three when a draw was agreed and that left Sri Lanka with a chance of squaring the series in the third Test starting at the Rose Bowl on June 16.
