CCI gates to be named after Rajsingh Dungarpur

April 25, 2016 01:39 am | Updated 06:02 pm IST - Mumbai:

The president of the Cricket Club of India (CCI) Kekoo Nicholson said at the Legends’ Club function here on Sunday that the main gates of the club will be named after the late club president, Rajsingh Dungarpur.

“When Sachin Tendulkar came for the memorial function following Rajsingh’s passing away a few years ago, he suggested that one of the gates of the Club be named after Rajsingh and that he will be present at the naming event. The club has put up new nice-looking gates now and we are finalising the date convenient to Tendulkar,” said Nicholson.

At the same function held to celebrate Tendulkar’s 43rd birthday, the Legends Club president Madhav Apte said that former India captain Kapil Dev will now be added to the select group of legends that include Vijay Merchant, Vijay Hazare, Vinoo Mankad, Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar. “Kapil Dev has given his consent. We are also considering adding badminton legend Nandu Natekar to the group,” said Apte.
