Australia suffered a big blow when injured pace spearhead Brett Lee was ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against India. The Australian selectors will soon name a replacement for Lee.

Cricket Australia, through a press release, confirmed that Lee “will return home to consult specialists after being ruled out of the remainder of Australia’s tour of India.”

In the press release, physio Kevin Sims said: “Brett Lee’s elbow injury has not responded as well to treatment as we would have liked and, therefore, a decision has been made to send him home to consult an elbow specialist. With an accurate diagnosis we can determine how best to manage the injury and give Lee the best chance of being available for selection at the beginning of the Australian summer.”

Lee bowled just six overs in the opening game at Vadodara and was ruled out of the second ODI at Nagpur. Lee’s injury adds to the woes of the Australians, as wicketkeeper Tim Paine has returned home with a broken finger and James Hopes is struggling with a niggle.
