Lakshmi Card Clothing trophy for SRMSC

Sri Ramakrishna Mills Sports Club (SRMSC) regained the first division title and quite deservedly took home the Lakshmi Card Clothing Trophy in the 57th Annual Day celebration of the Coimbatore District Cricket Association (CDCA) at the Velumani Ammal Kalyana Mandapam here recently.

The CDCA applauded the teams who have emerged winners in both the league and the inter-school matches during the 2014-15 season and rewarded the players suitably for their efforts.

Senthil Kumar (Coimbatore Raiders Cricket Academy), K. Mahalingam (Miracle CC) and M. Balraj Kaleeswara CC were declared the overall best performers with the bat, ball and the gloves in the league for the 2014-15 season.

Former India ‘A’ and State player S. Sharath, the day’s guest, gave away the prizes.

“There are half a dozen or more players from Coimbatore representing the State. J. Koushik, N. Jagadeesan, M. Abhinav, C. Hari Nishanth, K. Gowtham Thamaraikannan, S. Sujay are a few of them who have done well for both the district and the State,” said Sharath, who is also the Chairman of the TNCA selection committee.

“I expect these boys to play at the higher level in the years to come,” he added.

D. Lakshminarayanaswamy, the CDCA President, welcomed the gathering.

I div.: Lakshmi Card Clothing Trophy: Best batsman: C. Hari Nishanth (SRMSC); best bowler: R. Venkatesh (Suryabala CC); best wicketkeeper: J. Suresh Kumar.

II div.: Universal Heat Exchangers Trophy: Best batsman: S. Senthil Kumar (Coimbatore Raiders CA); best bowler: M.N. Harikumar (Arumugam CC); best wicketkeeper: K. Hafezullah (Arumugam CC).

III div.: N. Damodharan Welfare Trust Trophy: Best batsman: P. Nandakumar (Kingz CC); best bowler: K. Mahalingam (Miracle CC); best wicketkeeper: M. Balraj (Kaleeswara CC).

IV div.: Elgi Equipments Trophy: Best batsman: M. Sadiq Ul Ameen (Sri Shakthi IET); best bowler: M. Ashok (NIA Educational Institutions); best wicketkeeper: S. Shakthivel (PSG Tech).

Overall best performance: Best batsman: Senthil Kumar (Coimbatore Raiders CA); best bowler: K. Mahalingam (Miracle CC); best wicketkeeper: M. Balraj (Kaleeswara CC).
