Virat Kohli is likely to miss the third Test against Sri Lanka due to personal commitments.

The India captain is understood to have requested the selectors to release him for the last Test, to be played in Kanpur from December 2. This led to the panel selecting the squad for only the first two Tests.

Chief selector M.S.K. Prasad hinted that Kohli could be given a break during the Lanka series to manage his workload. “As far as the Test series is concerned, he is going to play.

“At some point of time, the rotation policy that we are following will apply to the captain,” said Prasad.

“We are also monitoring his workload. He has been playing continuously from the IPL and we need to give him a break which we will consider after the Test series.”
