Terrific twosome: The incredibly consistent Virat Kohli has joined A.B. de Villiers to top 900 points in both Tests and ODIs at the same time.

Virat Kohli became only the second batsman after A.B. de Villiers to cross the 900-point mark concurrently in Tests and ODIs even as pacer Jasprit Bumrah grabbed the joint-top position among bowlers in the ICC ODI player rankings released on Tuesday.

Kohli is one among the only five to have crossed 900 points in both forms of the game.

He moved ahead of Brian Lara in the all-timers’ ODI list and is now seventh in the ODI list of all-time rankings led by Vivian Richards with 935 points.

Shikhar Dhawan, who aggregated 323 runs in the ODI series, is another notable gainer in the latest rankings.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has moved up eight slots to the 21st position, while Kuldeep’s 17 scalps helped him move up 15 positions to 47th.

Youngest top-ranker

Bumrah’s eight wickets have lifted him two places to take the joint-first position alongside Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan. Rashid, with 16 wickets in the series against Zimbabwe which Afghanistan won 4-1, has become the youngest to attain top ranking.

His 51 runs in two innings in the series has also helped him break into the top-five in the list of all-rounders.

Meanwhile, India (123) continues to top the ODI team rankings, followed by South Africa (117) and England (116).

Afghanistan has overtaken Zimbabwe in the rankings. Afghanistan has gained four points to take 10th position with 55 points while Zimbabwe has lost three points to be on 50.
