Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi has sought the help of Sports Minister M.S. Gill to convince the Indian cricket board to reschedule the two Test matches at home against Australia as the dates clash with the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games.

“I write to seek your good offices to try and convince the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reschedule the two Test matches between India and Australia so that it does not clash with the Commonwealth Games,” Kalmadi said in a statement on Friday.

The first Test is scheduled in Mohali from October 2 while the second Test will take place in Bangalore (October 10).

“I had written to Sharad Pawar as early as in July 1, 2009 seeking due consideration by the BCCI to ensure that it does not schedule any major cricket series during the Commonwealth Games,” said the president of the Indian Olympic Association.
