A defiant N. Srinivasan on Saturday rejected demands for his resignation from the post of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president in the wake of arrest of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan on charges of betting.
“I have done no wrong, I have no intention to resign. I can’t be bulldozed or railroaded into resigning. Some sources are trying to put pressure now... There is no question of it [me resigning],” he told reporters here during a brief interaction at the airport.
He said the BCCI would strictly follow all its rules and the law would take its course.
Ever since news broke out that Mr. Meiyappan was involved in betting on IPL matches in association with actor Vindoo Dara Singh and other bookies, demands have been made seeking Mr. Srinivasan’s resignation.
The chorus intensified after the Mumbai Police arrested Mr. Meiyappan after interrogation.
The police said they had come to the conclusion that he was involved in the offence of betting.
