Chris Gayle appeared as stunned by his brutal effort against Pune Warriors India at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday as those that watched him. “Words cannot explain how I feel; maybe later on, when I’m by myself, I can reflect on what happened today,” he said.

“I’m really happy with the win from the team point of view; it puts us on top of the table. It’s one of the days where you come out and things go according to you.”

“It was a good wicket; I didn’t want to just get a hundred and blast and blast and get out. We know how quickly these games can change. I wanted to stay there till the end and bat at least 18 overs if not all,” he said.

The Jamaican revealed he had had a late night, watching his beloved Manchester United seal a record 20th league title. “Beautiful; I was up watching the game,” he said. “Good fun, good fun; hopefully RCB can win the title too. But I was up all night and couldn’t sleep. I ordered room service at 6:30 in the morning: one omelette, two pancakes and one hot chocolate. I went to bed only at 7:30 a.m. Hopefully, I get something to eat now.”

The PWI skipper Aaron Finch, sighed in resignation when asked about the loss.

“Chris Gayle was just on fire,” he said. “Everything he did was right. We pretty much did everything today.

“It was just a case of one guy who was simply too good. He was phenomenal. There is no real place where we wanted to bowl him. We just tried to limit the damage, but that did not happen.” — Sports Reporter
