Gujarat squeezes past Delhi by 1 run

It's a clash of tabletoppers between Gujarat Lions and hosts Delhi Daredevils, who have won three on the trot.

Man-of-the-match award goes to Chris Morris.

Suresh Raina says "Morris batted very well. Praveen and Bravo bowled very well in 19th and 20th overs. I think we were under pressure. Praveen Kumar is our weapon."

Maximum sixes award goes to Chris Morris. Top fielder of the day goes to J.P. Duminy.

With this victory, Gujarat Lions went to the top of the table.

What an innings from Morris and Duminy but quite sadly on a losing side. Gujarat Lions pulled off a sensational win from brink of defeat by 1 run against Delhi Daredevils in New Delhi on Wednesday. What a contest this was? The match was oscillating from Gujarat to Delhi. Bravo and Praveen bowled brilliantly in the last two overs. A huge sigh of relief for Gujarat Lions. The team pulled off a sensational victory against Delhi Daredevils.

14 required from the last over. Morris is still there. What a match this was to be? Both teams played brilliant cricket. Bravo bowls, Morris strikes the ball and Faulkner misses a sitter and it is boundary off the first ball. Oh God!! Morris takes a single. 9 from 4. excellent yorker and only a single. 18 needed to win from 12 balls. It is quite simple from here for Delhi. Morris should stay till the end. What an incredible knock he played toying the bowlers around the park. Slower ball, Morris smashes the ball through the mid-off for boundary. He is not going to bog down. Morris is the man for Delhi and Gujarat should take his wicket quickly. Wide ball to follow. Gujarat Lions has to take the big wicket of Morris and Duminy quickly otherwise the match would run away from them. Kulkarni into the attack. Duminy cuts the ball hard straight to the fielder.Good slower ball from Kulkarni. Can Kulkarni pull the match for Gujarat Lions? Duminy takes a single and bring Morris on strike. Duminy and Morris run for two runs. Duminy takes a single and bring Morris on strike. Another smashing hit and it sails over long-on for a six. Oh no!! Morris is surely wants to deal only in sixes. Seven overs to go, 85 to win. Still a long way to go for Delhi. Bravo into the attack. Excellent slower one from Bravo. Excellent shot from Duminy and it is a boundary over mid-off fielder. Beautiful shot, took the ball early and lifts it over mid-off. Another slower one, Duminy plays it for a single. Morris on strike. A good slow yorker from Bravo. Morris smashes it over square-leg for another six. He is dealing in sixes now. Brilliant cameo from Morris.

Eight overs to go. Faulkner continues, Morris smashes the first ball for a huge six. What a strike that was from Morris!! Phew!! beautiful shot. Wow!! It is 101m strike. It is close shave for Duminy. Morris takes a single and bring Duminy on strike. Two quick runs for Duminy. Good over for Delhi, another beautiful shot from Morris, it is another six.

Jadeja into the attack. Morris is the off the mark with a single. Good over so far from Jadeja. Duminy strikes the ball over the mid-wicket for a six. Duminy is on the move now. He is the dangerman now for Gujarat Lions. Duminy strikes another boundary from the last ball.

10 overs to go, Delhi needs 122. It is really tough from here. Duminy and Pant should play some magical knock to take Delhi to victory. Faulkner into the attack. Pant flicks the first ball over square-leg for a boundary. Pant takes a single. Duminy on strike. Striking the first ball for a boundary or six will put pressure on the bowler. Praveen takes a brilliant catch to dismiss Pant. Delhi 57 for 4. Delhi are really in big trouble. Duminy should play a brilliant innings from here to take them near the target. Last over of the powerplay. Duminy should stay till the end to make a match of it. Kulkarni continues, good first ball to Duminy. Duminy takes a single. No boundaries in sight for Delhi Daredevils, only singles and twos.

After five overs: Delhi 19 for 3

Rishabh Pant is the new man. Praveen continues, brilliant bowling from Gujarat Lions opening bowlers. Praveen Kumar and Kulkarni are using variations in their bowling to control the Delhi Daredevils batsmen. Duminy flicks and takes two quick runs.

After four overs: Delhi 16 for 3

Kulkarni continues, Nair plays it through mid-wicket and only a single. Quinton de Kock on strike. Kulkarni is the only bowler to bowl two wicket-maidens in this IPL. A wild swish and miss. A smashing hit from de Kock and it is first boundary for Delhi and de Kock. Kulkarni strikes removing dangerous de Kock and Raina takes a good shot. Delhi 12 for 2. Excellent bowling from Kulkarni. J.P. Duminy is the new man. Karun Nair smashes the next ball for another boundary. Excellent delivery and Kulkarni strikes once again by removing Karun Nair. Delhi 16 for 3.

After three overs: Delhi 7 for 1

Praveen continues, Karun takes two quick runs. Karun takes a quick single. Quiton de Kock on strike, Loud appeal for LBW, umpires says no. Good over so far from Praveen restricting the Delhi batsmen.

After two overs: Delhi 2 for 1

Dhawal Kulkarni shares the new ball, excellent delivery to start with beats the outside edge of Samson. Kulkarni strikes, Samson is out for 1. Delhi 2 for 1. What a delivery from Kulkarni, Samson tries to lift the ball over mid-on but edges and Faulkner makes no mistake. Karun Nair is the new man. Beautiful delivery from Kulkarni. After one over: Delhi 2 for no loss

Gujarat Lions players are in a huddle. The openers Quinton de Kock and Sanju Samson are out in the middle. de Kock on strike, Praveen Kumar to open the attack. Swing from Praveen, de Kock plays it defensively. de Kock is off the mark. Brilliant fielding at point, saved a certain boundary. Gujarat are a good fielding unit with Jadeja, Raina, Bravo, Faulkner and Smith. Samson is off the mark. Excellent over from Praveen.

For Delhi Daredevils, Quinton de Kock who is good form has to fire early at the top while Gujarat Lions will be looking to strike early wickets. The Gujarat team will be looking to remove Quinton de Kock early. An interesting game is on.

After a brilliant innings from Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum for Gujarat Lions, Zaheer Khan marshalled his bowlers very well to take crucial wickets. Delhi Daredevils bowlers brought back the game to their hand by restricting Gujarat Lions for 172 for 6. In the first 10 overs, Gujarat Lions has scored over 100. Zaheer, who was expensive in the first three overs, is putting all his experience in play in his final over. Faulkner takes two runs. Two quick runs taken. Eight runs from this over.

Three overs to go. Morris into the attack. Faulkner strikes the ball and a brilliant piece of fielding and it is only two. Faulkner takes a single and Bravo on strike. A Wide. Bravo opens his account and it is a single. Only singles and twos and no boundaries in sight during the end of the Gujarat Lions innings. It is 150 for Gujarat Lions. What a way to end the over, Faulkner hits a boundary.

After 17 overs: Gujarat 143 for 6

Four overs to go, Tahir into the attack. Kishan takes a single. Karthik on strike. Karthik smashes the ball over the bowler's head for a six. A beautiful shot. Karthik takes a single. Kishan tries to lift the ball and is out. Duminy is the catcher. Tahir strikes. Gujarat 142 for 5. Wickets are falling after the first 10 overs. Delhi Daredevils bowlers have brought the game right back. Tahir on hat-trick. Bravo and Faulkner are the new men in.

Five overs to, 50 runs from here will take Gujarat to 180+. Nadeem into the attack. Karthik has to stay till the end. Zaheer is marshalling his resources quite well. No boundaries and only singles. Two runs from this over.

After 15 overs: Gujarat 132 for 4

Duminy into the attack. Jadeja whips the ball for a single. Duminy strikes, Jadeja is out. Gujarat 130 for 4. What a brilliant piece of bowling changes from Zaheer. 18 runs and four wickets. Wow!! What a comeback from Delhi bowlers. Ishan Kishan is the new man. Good ball from Duminy. Kishan off the mark. Karthik takes another single.

After an explosive start from Gujarat Lions openers, Delhi Daredevils bowlers bowled brilliantly and strangled the run-rate and took three quick wickets. Amit Mishra into the atttack. Two runs in two balls. Excellent bowling from Delhi bowlers particularly Chris Morris. Dinesh Karthik smashes the next ball for a boundary, much-needed one for Gujarat Lions after a brief lull.

After 13 overs: Gujarat 120 for 3

Ravindra Jadeja is the new man. Imran Tahir continues. Karthik and Jadeja now have to play some brilliant cricket to give Gujarat Lions a huge total. Runs are coming in singles.

After 12 overs: Gujarat 117 for 3.

Morris into the attack. Raina takes a single off the first ball. Excellent slow full-toss and McCullum is bowled. Delhi strikes once again. Gujarat 116 for 2. Delhi strikes two in two overs. Delhi Daredevils are slowly bringing the game back. Dinesh Karthik is the new man. Karthik is the off mark straightaway. Play resumes after a short break. Tahir continues. McCullum lofts and a misunderstanding from fielders and it is another costly miss from Delhi. Imran strikes, removes Dwayne Smith and first wicket for Delhi. Gujarat 112 for 1. Suresh Raina is the new man. Takes a single and off the mark. Beautiful placerment from McCullum and two runs.

After 10 overs: Gujarat 110 for no loss

From here Gujarat Lions can finish with a huge score. McCullum takes a single and bring Smith on strike. Amit Mishra's second ball was taken for a single by Smith. Fastest team hundred in this IPL. Smith smashes and it is maximum. What a way to complete his fifty. Smith and McCullum are toying with the Delhi bowlers now.

After nine overs: Gujarat 100 for no loss

Imran Tahir into the attack, McCullum completes his fifty. What a knock for Gujarat Lions. Smith is not so far away. Smith takes a single. Tahir is bowling to the wickets so only singles so far in this over. Smith takes a single. McCullum reverse-sweeps and it is another boundary. What a way to treat a world-class leg-spinner, sheer ruthless. It is 100 for Gujarat.

After eight overs: Gujarat 91 for no loss.

Amit Mishra into the attack. McCullum smahes straight down the ground for another boundary. Lovely shot. McCullum sweeps over mid-wicket for another boundary. McCullum is dealing in boundaries. McCullum takes a single.

After seven overs: Gujarat 82 for no loss

Nadeem into the attack. McCullum smashes the ball over mid-wicket between the two fielders and the ball races to the boundary. McCullum cuts and another misfield yields another boundary for Gujarat Lions. McCullum and Smith are pairing together now. Smith takes a single. 10 runs from this over.

After six overs: Gujarat 71 for no loss

Smith and McCullum are looking dangerous now. Delhi has to remove both these players to have a hand on this match. Zaheer continues. Smith tries to loft get edge and the ball lands safely. Good ball from Zaheer. In two overs, he has been thrashed for 32 runs. Smith smashes the ball and it races to the boundary in a flash. What a shot!! Already six fours and five sixes till now. Now McCullum connects and it is a huge six over the bowler's head. Wow!! What a lovely shot. Another lofted shot but this time only for two runs. McCullum and Smith are on the move and Gujarat are in for a huge total, if they continue to bat like this. McCullum smashes the last ball for another boundary.

After four overs: Gujarat 51 for no loss

Nadeem continues, McCullum on strike, plays the first ball defensively. He takes a single and brings Smith on strike. Smith smashes the ball over mid-wicket for another maximum. Oh God!! What an explosive start from these two dangerous batsmen in the world!! Big appeal and it is an edge. It is fifty for Gujarat Lions. Fastest fifty in the IPL 2016.

After three overs: Gujarat 42 for no loss

Zaheer Khan continues, Smith takes a single off the first ball. Sanju Samson drops a sitter, McCullum smashes the ball and it went through his hands and it is another six. Good comeback deliveries from Zaheer. McCullum smashes the next ball for another six. The batsmen are dealing in fours and sixes. 14 from this over.

Previous two overs were expensive from Zaheer and Shabaz Nadeem.

After two overs: Gujarat 28 for no loss

The umpires, players and the openers are out in the middle.

Delhi Daredevils have won the toss and will bowl first.

Raina fears dew will play a part, and they will need to put up a good total up front.

Aaron Finch and Shadab Jakati are out and will be replaced by James Faulkner and Ishan Kishan.

For Delhi Daredevils, Shahbaz Nadeem and Rishabh Pant will replace Mohammad Shami and Shreyas Iyer.
