Yet to recover fully: Gayle

April 30, 2014 11:16 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 07:18 pm IST - Bangalore:

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Chris Gayle has said he has not fully recovered from a back injury and will reassess his fitness before the team’s next match.

Gayle, who missed RCB’s first four IPL matches, returned against Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday and scored a seven-ball 20 in a losing cause.

“There is still a bit of discomfort. We have a couple of days to go before our next match [against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Bangalore on Sunday], which I will use to work with the physio,” Gayle, who was signed on as brand ambassador for mobile phone manufacturer Wham, said at a function here on Wednesday.

RCB has had an unimpressive start to its campaign, winning two and losing three fixtures. Gayle said RCB’s return to home-turf could mark a turnaround.

Meanwhile, the RCB players — who began arriving in batches — opted to rest on Wednesday. — Sports Reporter
