Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Morne Morkel has received a reprimand for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

“Morkel admitted to the level 1 offence (Article 2.1.4) of using insulting language during the match. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding,” said a statement.

The Knight Riders eventually won the tie by two runs on Thursday night.

In Wednesday’s match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Rajasthan Royals skipper Shane Watson was fined $20,000 for maintaining a slow over rate during the Chennai Super Kings innings.
