V.V.S. Laxman has been ruled out of the remainder of the Bangladesh tour and will leave for India on Friday.

The Indian middle-order batsman had suffered an injury on his left hand, bruising his fingers while trying to pouch Shahriar Nafees’ snicks off Zaheer Khan in the first Test here on Wednesday. An injured Laxman walked away then and was conspicuous by his absence on the fifth and final day of the match here at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

“Laxman is going back to India and there will not be any replacement in the squad,” said Indian team manager Arshad Ayub.
