The Indian team’s preparatory camp, a prelude to the imminent tour of the West Indies, suffered a damp start at the National Cricket Academy here on Wednesday.

Persistent rain forced Virat Kohli’s men to largely stay indoors at the NCA, where the regular fitness drills were conducted.

Later coach Anil Kumble said: “In the camp, I am just trying to get used to the players. Probably because of the rain, practice will be a problem.”

He stressed that if the weather clears, the team’s focus would be on maximising its outdoor training stints besides playing a game at the Alur Ground, located in the city’s suburbs, probably on July 3.

The camp will conclude on July 4.
